Abstract

In intensive care, patients suffering from multiple organ failures are vulnerable because their physical and/or psychological integrity are being threatened, but also because of their social isolation. Socio-esthetic care can be provided to improve patients’ quality of life. This type of care will help restore their self-esteem and how they view themselves. Socio-esthetic care is unique in that it is time for patients to relax and interact with others. Besides, this project is completely coherent with the recommendations of the 2009 consensus conference “Mieux vivre la réanimation” (Making life in intensive care easier) which involves the patients, their families and the care providers.
