Abstract

Pressure ulcers are skin lesions, deep subcutaneous or cutaneous-mucous membranes in various parts of the body and are the  consequence of tissue hypoxia caused by excessive and prolonged pressure in particular at the level of bony protrusions but they can also be linked to the presence of medical equipment. Pressure ulcers are a major problem at all times of the care process: from home to critical care services.

This pathology prolongs hospitalizations, increases hospitalization costs and has an impact in terms of morbidity and mortality.
