Abstract

Staff from the surgical and burns intensive care unit at Nantes University Hospital have set up a "Zen cart" for use by patients, their families and the team. A prospective qualitative study showed that all users of the cart were satisfied. The innovative approach and accessibility of the various tools are the strong points of this project. This support encourages listening to patients, their needs and difficulties, and helps to establish a privileged moment in the relationship between caregiver and patient. These different tools create a soothing sensory atmosphere, encouraging the possibility of escape.
