Chronic heart failure is a major cause of morbidity and mortality, leading to a significant number of intensive care unit admissions. These hospitalizations are associated with high mortality and morbidity, both during and after hospitalization. They often result in the suspension of certain chronic heart failure treatments, but also provide an opportunity for therapeutic reassessment and optimization. The intensivist's role is crucial in managing these patients, particularly in initiating or adjusting cardiac treatments. The rapid implementation of chronic heart failure therapies helps reduce the risk of rehospitalization and death. This article aims to review the latest advances in the management of chronic heart failure, with a focus on key knowledge for intensivists.
