Abstract

Parasitic infections of the central nervous system can be life-threatening. Such infections are mainly due to malaria and toxoplasmosis in tropical and temperate countries, respectively. Toxocariasis and cysticercosis are two of the most common parasitic worm infections worldwide that are suspected in patients with Larva migrans syndrome or cerebral tumor, respectively. Other protozooses or helminthiasis can cause neurological impairment related to neurological location and development stage of the parasite. When taking care of migrants and travelers, these parasitoses should be considered. Steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be associated with antiparasitic treatment under certain conditions. As these diseases are very unusually seen in France, a specialist’s guidance is frequently needed.
