Abstract

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a clinically heterogeneous syndrome associated with high long-term mortality and morbidity, particularly in children with severe hypoxaemia. Until 2015, before the first consensus conference on the definition and specific management of paediatric ARDS (PALLIC) was published, paediatricians had to extrapolate adult recommendations for their daily clinical practice. In 2020-2023, the second international guidelines for the diagnosis and management of paediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (PALLIC-2) had updated the previous recommendations. In order to facilitate the dissemination of the recommendations in French-speaking countries, this article reviews the main update of the PALICC-2 recommendations.
