Early mobilization and physical activity in critically ill patients are essential for preventing muscle wasting and deconditioning, which can begin in the first days after admission to the ICU. Various adapted mobilization techniques enable muscle activation from the very first days following acute care admission, with technologies that extend or mimic muscular activity. Once the patient can participate, initiating progressive physical activation of peripheral and respiratory muscles has both physiological and clinical benefits. Multidisciplinary mobilization protocols are encouraged to ensure the systematic and safe implementation of early mobilization approaches. While the appropriate dosage of physical activity in the ICU remains to be fully determined, approaches that consider patients' perceptions would help individualize the timing, duration, and nature of activities.
